About this artwork
In the pictorial landscape of 2025, Romano Mosconi—an economist and painter, a figure who combines academic rigor and free imaginative expression—continues his aesthetic research, which finds in works such as La Vela a synthesis between formal structure and dreamlike freedom. The work, which is part of his latest solo exhibition in the large Nobili Cappello room of the Villa Imperiale in Galliera Veneta (Padua), is not a simple landscape representation,… but rather a metaphorical symbol. La Vela, drawing on the surrealist influence of Joan Miró, employs a language of fields of color and shapes that oscillate between abstraction and figuration, and a skillful use of line, which traces dynamic boundaries. The sail is not static; it stands out in the painting as an almost biomorphic element, suspended between sky and sea, a symbol of an interior rather than physical journey. As is often the case in Mosconi's work, the theme of destiny and choice is central.
Romano Mosconi, painter and photographer, has a background rooted in art since childhood, having grown up in the creative circle of his artist mother and pursuing a brilliant academic career. He favors mixed media such as spray paint, permanent markers, acrylic, and collage, ranging from abstract surrealism, landscapes, still lifes, and geometric forms characterized by vibrant, vibrant colors. His works, born from the observation of nature and everyday life, convey enthusiasm, personal inclusion, and a vibrant zest for life, emotionally engaging the viewer.
