About this artwork
This image is from the metal world series, created in Chicago. Using a cutting technique, I applied gold leaf, aluminum (for a silver effect), copper, and iron sand from Lake Michigan to vinyl. The vinyl base material was reinforced with iron-on interfacing on the back, and the images were stretched over a sturdy PVC backing. They can be easily framed with aluminum frames. To prevent discoloration—especially of copper—the images are carefully coated…
against UV rays, without losing their shine (especially the glittering effect of the iron sand).

« I wish to use space to suggest time. In my explorations in 2D and 3D, I want to capture time as the 4th dimension. »
Roxane Legenstein's distinctive works explore how the structures in and around us restrict and define our perception of reality. In her artistic practice, she relays narratives through the use of a variety of materials, reflecting a certain timelessness of nature and its forms through colors. However, Legenstein describes her techniques as being more coventional in nature.
