About this artwork
I poured my passion into this acrylic painting Poppies on Orange, capturing the vibrant energy of red poppies against a warm orange backdrop. Through expressionism, I aimed to evoke emotions of resilience and joy, with each bold stroke breathing life and movement into the flowers. Poppies on Orange will bring a lively, uplifting atmosphere to any space, radiating warmth and spirited beauty. It was seen on social media, interest was given and it was… sold after my first solo exhibition.
Rooted in colour, nature, and a deeply personal way of seeing and working primarily in acrylics and known for her expressive triadic palettes, Ruth brings florals, animals, and landscapes to life through bold chromatic contrasts, layered techniques, and a fluid blend of fauvism and expressionism. As a physically disabled and neurodiverse (dyslexic) artist, she credits her unique cognitive perspective for sharpening her intuition, enriching her sense of connection to the natural world, and amplifying the emotional depth of her work. Her paintings capture more than what is seen; they reveal what is felt. Ruth reminds us that colour can shift emotion, that form can hold memory, and that art can act as a bridge between the seen world and the inner life.
