About this artwork
I am fascinated by the whirling dervishes. They are on their journey, not bothered by the world, and trying to break free from the conventions. When I look at them I feel that they are trying to find their love listening to their inner voice. Their movement is so simple, fluid, personal, and serene. Together or alone, towards the same goal; they have a strong desire to unite with their love.
I have deduced that we cannot understand their journey… or desire but can only be inspired in our own way. We can never understand the reality of the invisible face, unless we look deep down inside, using many, many borrowed eyes, still, left defeated.
This series is inspired by the journey of whirling dervishes, an attempt to portray their mystical experiences.
