About this artwork
Work begun in 2007, resumed in 2026
In this painting, I wanted to explore what time silently transforms within us.
The female figure appears in deep darkness, almost suspended between presence and erasure, while the egg becomes the symbol of what is carried, protected and still invisible.
I began this work in 2007, before becoming a mother. Nearly twenty years later, I returned to it with a different perspective, a different memory, and a different… experience of the body, time, and life. This canvas now bears two versions of myself: the one who was still waiting, and the one who has gone through motherhood and its transformations.
Through the contrasts between the light of the face and the black depths, I seek an intimate, silent, and symbolic painting.
For me, the egg represents gestation in a broad sense: the birth of a child, but also that of an emotion, a memory, a work or an inner metamorphosis.
