About this artwork
Fragment Series: Intimate studies that isolate a fragment of city, mark, or threshold. Architectural in origin, reduced to instinct. In this piece, the soft peach and gray forms invite contemplation, while the delicate hints of pink spark a gentle energy.
Art has always been my passion. I was that person spending every free period in the school art studio. I lived between art and design for most of my adult life, eventually training as an interior architect, but art was always there. It came with me to every city I lived in, taking different forms depending on how much space — physical, emotional, mental — I had for it at the time. These days I paint in the early morning, somewhere between 6 and 7am, when the world outside is just waking up. I watch the light change. I carry a feeling of lightness after. In 2025 I received a Stevie Award for Creative Person of the Year — recognition, I think, for not keeping the two practices separate. Every place I've lived has left something in me. I hope the work creates a feeling of freedom... the freedom to belong to more than one place, and to keep remaking your own identity.
