About this artwork
I am a modern artist and painted the famous Russian icon in a modern style.
To prepare the surface for work, I used the old technology of ancient icon painters. To do this, I spent a month preparing a special egg glue. Then the surface of the board dried out with the help of adhesive mastic for a year and turned into stone. Then a perfect grinding was performed.
I made the frame by hand from light and durable Siberian cedar. A real bronze icon of… the 16th century is inserted into the frame on the left.
They warn here that the painting should be shown unframed to the viewer. Okay, but not for me. My frame and the painting are a composition, a synthesis that cannot be destroyed. I'm not putting a price on such a painting here. A lot of work and time has been spent on this painting, so it is invaluable. It's a masterpiece!
