About this artwork
Zhiva is the main female deity of Western Slavic mythology, the goddess of Life. But what is life? It is a continuous birth, fertility, and a delicate balance between strength and vulnerability. Grapes in the painting are an ancient symbol of abundance, procreation and vital energy, and a woman who gives new life appears as an image of the divine principle.
In this work, I sought to capture the deep connection between the vulnerability of human nature… and the abundant beauty of the surrounding world.
Grapes, embodying wealth and fullness of life, surround a calm and confident female figure, radiating quiet strength and inner mystery.
The work combines the features of symbolism and decorative painting, forming an image on the border between reality and the inner world — calm, meditative and filled with hidden meaning.

I also worked as a photographer and portraitist on the beaches of the Azov and Black Seas. From 1998 to 2002, I painted seascapes for exhibitions and galleries in Rostov, Moscow, and other cities. In 2004, I studied the works of Aivazovsky, Bogolyubov, Lagorio, Sudkovsky, Levitan, Kuindzhi, and other Russian artists of the
