About this artwork
In this work, I sought to explore the relationship between bodily existence and the metaphysics of writing. With bands that envelop and conceal, perhaps representing the layers of our own subjectivity in the face of the codified universe of words, this painting expresses a tension between the visible and the invisible, the tangible and the enigmatic. The texture and monochromaticity accentuate this dialogue, inviting an introspective reflection on…
our own essence.

« In the modern world, we have lost the ability to understand the picture and to enjoy contemplation. My creativity helps turn on the imagination and enjoy art. »
Sergey Sergeev is an experienced artist of Russian origin, living and working in France since 2013. Influenced by the masters of the Northern Renaissance, his work is created using a multi-layered technique to create his characteristic dynamic and complex paintings. Sergeev's work also draws on the underlying philosophy of 17th century Taoist painting and the symbolism of runic signs. His artistic oeuvre is characterized by static images that contemplate technology, surveillance, cyborgs and history.
