About this artwork
It is one of the works depicting the scene in the picture book <Horned Wolf>, a co-creation of Kim Seung-hwan(Artist) and Kwon Jin-ae(Independent Film Director). The picture book, <Horned Wolf> tells the story of two friends whose lone deer accidentally help a wolf with horns and become friends with each other, but are divided by their own inferiority complex.
The people and plants whose borders are cut off along each shape in the square frame reveal… their presence more vividly in front of visitors. This diversifies the relationship between the person in the work and the space by taking different backgrounds according to the space in which the work is displayed.
« Ultimately, I want to be an artist who captures and portrays the beauty that exists in every moment. »
Kim Seung Hwan is an emerging painter from South Korea whose work has been featured in solo exhibitions in his home country and in art fairs. Using vivid color, texture, and light, he paints portraits of celebrities, icons and everyday routines in the style of photorealism. Through his work, he has developed a keen sense of observation of the world around him and of himself.
