About this artwork
"Tea Party" Unlike a typical tea party scene, conveys a complex range of emotions and experiences that each character is going through. The use of colors in the painting, deep olive green, warm reds, and yellows add to the emotional depth of the piece. The characters portrayed, each looking in a different direction and their body language suggests that they are not completely present in the moment, but rather preoccupied with their own thoughts and… emotions. Despite the apparent disconnect between the characters, the scene is still rich with life and beauty. Flowers and trees are scattered throughout the painting, adding to the overall sense of organic growth and natural beauty.
Shahi Dayekh is a Lebanese contemporary abstract expressionist based in Dubai, working with oil paint and mixed media. Shaped by a culturally rich and globally influenced life, her practice explores the emotional, psychological, and spiritual dimensions of the human experience.
Through expressive gestures, layered surfaces, and multidimensional compositions, Shahi’s work reflects the inner worlds we carry — vulnerability, resilience, searching, and transformation. Drawing inspiration from the natural world, cosmology, mythology, the collective unconscious, and metaphysics, her paintings move between the personal and the universal, offering space for contemplation and connection.
Rooted in intuition and emotional depth, each work becomes a mirror, inviting viewers to engage with their own narratives and shared humanity. Shahi’s art seeks to reconnect the individual with deeper feeling, awareness, and the invisible bonds that unite us all.
