The background of the painting is the same as „The Red Olive Tree“ (they are part of a 4 piece series). While the Red Olive Tree depicts the political complexity and the blood shed, „East Passage“ focuses on the hardship of the people when they have to leave their destroyed houses and cities. When the easier flight routes to the East werde blocked by soldiers, the older people were left behind and alone. The third part of the series is a paper work…
