About this artwork
With this watercolor, I wanted to capture the quiet, almost mystical atmosphere of a forest. The depths and shadows symbolize the unknown, while the delicate tree trunks act like silent messengers of nature. My aim was for the painting to radiate tranquility, but also a mysterious tension—perfect for bringing a peaceful yet captivating energy into the home.
Siegfried Krön works almost exclusively with watercolors and developed his artistic style under the tutelage of Professor Wolf Wrisch. His technique involves layering up to five coats of paint, masterfully utilizing the interplay of water and color to create captivating light effects. His style is characterized by natural motifs—primarily landscapes—and an atmospheric interplay of light, clouds, and sea. His works invite the viewer to feel part of the painting and convey a sense of freedom as well as a deep connection to nature.
For him and his painting technique, watercolor comes to life when water and colors touch. It is a fascinating moment to witness the process.
