About this artwork
With soft watercolor tones, I wanted to capture the quiet, almost mystical atmosphere of a winter forest. The delicate lines and color gradients are intended to convey a calm, meditative mood, expressing both security and transience. This painting brings a peaceful, calming energy to any room – as if you yourself were standing in the stillness of the forest.
To convey the feeling of winter, the artist used a color mixture consisting of "ultramarine… and burnt sienna".
The paint on the tree trunks was applied liberally. After the shaded side of the trees had dried, the still-liquid paint was rinsed off. This resulted in this velvety, delicate finish.

Siegfried Krön works almost exclusively with watercolors and developed his artistic style under the tutelage of Professor Wolf Wrisch. His technique involves layering up to five coats of paint, masterfully utilizing the interplay of water and color to create captivating light effects. His style is characterized by natural motifs—primarily landscapes—and an atmospheric interplay of light, clouds, and sea. His works invite the viewer to feel part of the painting and convey a sense of freedom as well as a deep connection to nature.
