About this artwork
Maa Durga Mukhos (Mask) - I love India and it's culture so we travel a lot in India. Once while travelling we reached to a very small village Purulia in West Bengal, India. I literally stood still at one place and could not move for at least 15 minutes, appreciating a thing in awe. And, that was a Maa Durga Face Mask (Mukhos in Bengali). I looked in her eyes and she looked straight in my eyes with love. Her look and the red and golden jewelry did… not let me go from there until I decided to buy it. Finally, I bought the mask to bring her home. It was a difficult task in travelling to bring this piece of Art. Purulia is famous for making masks. There were many shops and many masks but this was the one which was coming home. So what you are seeing here is the painting of this mask. I have added Dhaaki (Drum players), Dhunochi (Lamp), Lotus (symbol of spirituality) and Kash Phool (Kash flowers which generally bloom in full just before Durga Pujo. So, overall I wanted to paint the Maa Durga
