About this artwork
This work does not offer harmony. It refuses closure. It remains unfinished — because some truths do not conclude. "Radical Honesty Unfinished" is a large-scale abstract work that confronts rather than consoles. Built through dense layers of acrylic, it holds the raw sediment of emotion — scraped, scarred, and deliberately unresolved. The surface is a field of tension: deep rusts collide with muted greens, while vertical incisions cut through like… withheld confessions. At first, the painting stands as a wall — impenetrable, unsentimental. Yet, within its density, something unexpected gathers: the faint suggestion of a presence, almost a face, not revealed but remembered. It does not seek recognition, only endurance.
Sonia J. is a contemporary abstract painter whose work operates beyond the white cube. Her practice explores large-scale abstract painting through repetition, vertical rhythm, and material restraint, creating works with strong architectural and symbolic presence. Working primarily with acrylic and mixed media on canvas, she develops paintings that privilege duration and sustained attention over immediate visual impact. Silence functions as a structural condition, allowing the work to coexist with architectural, institutional, and private spaces without becoming decorative. Her paintings maintain autonomy across exhibitions, architectural environments, and contemporary interiors. Scale, surface, and layered accumulation are central to her process. Her work has been exhibited internationally across Europe and is held in private collections. She lives and works in Europe. Former C-level Suite in the Technology Industry.
