About this artwork
In the painting "Serata," I find myself in a wonderful, peaceful dream that takes me through the small town above Castellabate. The sun has already set and everything shimmers in reddish-violet tones, while at the same time, white light appears from the rising moon. I scurry through the alleys and allow myself to be enchanted by this dreamy atmosphere. I walk past mysterious corners, and behind the doors and windows, the scent of freshly prepared… dishes wafts. Voices echo through the empty alleys; people tell their stories in the houses, the stories of their land, the Cilento. I never want to wake up and remain trapped in it; there's something peaceful about this dream... and who knows, maybe I can convey this feeling to the viewer, to you, too...
Material: Acrylic primer on handmade paper - then worked with soft pastels.
This artwork is sold in a high-quality HALF FRAME, 70 x 55 cm (anti-reflective glass).
Sonja Kalmanfi is a painter who creates her art on canvas and paper using pastels, acrylics, watercolors, and mixed media. Her work is impressionistic and romantic, skillfully moving between realism and abstraction, masterfully capturing light, color, and moods. Her works convey a sensual melancholy and invite viewers to connect deeply with nature and their own inner selves at the threshold between dream and reality. She primarily uses the Cilento National Park in Italy as her setting and source of inspiration, where she spends time regularly. In her paintings, the landscapes of this country merge with the artist herself, her inner self, her experience. Sonja has a unique form of color perception. Behind every number, a color appears for her (e.g., 5 = midnight blue), a form of synesthesia in which sensory impressions merge. This intuitive perception shapes her artistic work.
