Sophie Barut is a contemporary French sculptor. She creates bronzes using the "lost wax" technique, in partnership with the Adobati foundry (Drôme). Her work frequently explores subjects such as fragility, childhood, balance in life, disability, the vital force hidden deep within each person, the beauty of friendship and love. She defines herself as the sculptor of fragility, considering that her artistic fragility is essential… in this world where omnipotence reigns.

As I am offered,
Why sulk at the thorn,
Want only the rose?
If reality
Is neither sweet nor happy,
By wanting to hide it,
I make her dark.
Oh certainly accept it
Seems like a weak pious idea,
But why fight?
If I can't change it?
Only reality
Can totally fill
And lead without deceiving
Towards peaceful days.
