About this artwork
The shot from above that this image presents is what allowed me to make the figure of the woman coincide with the element of water: two highly coincident presences for human consciousness. The arrangement of the rocky shapes all around the subject creates a sort of crown facing the body which, in turn, becomes a crown for his head.
The setting and the resulting atmosphere aim at an indefinite, ineffable pantheism, far from the construction and identification… of any meaning.
Stefano Anselmi primarily uses oil painting, supported by a solid academic background in both art and music, developed at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and in the world of opera. His technique leans toward free abstraction, present in the complexity of the fabric of natural things, eschewing a fixed style to experiment with full expressive freedom, guided by intuition and the fusion of visual and musical perception. His works evoke emotional contrasts such as noise and silence, movement and rejection, immersed in a profound sense of space.
