About this artwork
I used to paint a lot of forests after the big ice storm of 1998 that happened in Eastern Ontario and Québec. The weight of the ice bent the birch trees to the ground!

Stephanie Bak, a painter with roots in Ottawa, works in oil and watercolours, having trained at the Ontario College of Art and Design University and now part of The Rectory Art House collective. She employs rhythmic lines and vibrant, unconventional palettes, moving fluidly between abstraction, florals, and landscapes—her marks and colours challenging the viewer’s perceptions.
