About this artwork
A not uncommon sight in the middle of the New England woods. Signs of an earlier, long-gone life; old foundations, stone walls, orchards, etc. I painted this scene in the middle of winter where the snowfall highlights the old cellar hole's imprint. I at first was trying to only paint the remnants of the foundation, but the trunk of an up-close tree kept wanting to appear at the edge of the painting. I finally realized that it was a witness to what… was happening; an extension of the viewer.
This is professional grade acrylic paint on a hollow wood panel, 32" high by 80" wide. The edges are painted a solid color with no frame. It is hung with an attached and included simple wood cleat. Please look at the images carefully. This is painted loosely with quick brushstrokes in a painterly manner, and is glossy.
« I’m attracted to items built or left by others that weren’t intended to be objects to contemplate. I want to be to art what Robert Frost is to poetry. »
