About this artwork
In this work, I reimagine the tradition of still life through simplified forms, vivid color, and surreal elements. Familiar fruits become visual symbols suspended between the real and the imagined.
At the center, an eye lends the fruit a kind of awareness — as if they are not only being looked at, but quietly looking back at us. Through this, I explore the relationship between perception, memory, and existence.
Rather than tell a specific story,… I want color, shape, and symbol to carry a feeling, inviting each viewer to find their own memories within these forms that are at once familiar and strange.
For me, The Ripening Light of High Summer is both an emblem of summer's abundance and a metaphor for memory slowly ripening with time — a meditation on warmth, nostalgia, and the preciousness of beautiful moments as they slip away.
