About this artwork
In this painting I wanted to merge the human body with nature, expressing
It explores losing oneself as a moment of profound liberation from imposed paradigms, fears, rules, and masks, to rediscover one's vital, free, and authentic essence. It is an ode to self-discovery through detachment from expectations. Old paradigms, shame, guilt, and rules are lost.
The moment of confusion leads to rediscovering oneself "made of clay, stars and roots". … "Losing yourself" isn't a negative thing, but a necessary process to feel alive and courageously free again.
The headless figure represents the loss of conventional identity, while the branches symbolize growth and transformation. The vivid colors and sharp contrasts convey energy and mystery, inviting the viewer to explore new sensory and emotional dimensions.
Susanna Gatto, a Venetian painter, trained at an art school and studied fabric, glass, and watercolor, honing her mastery of color. Her works are distinguished by intense symbolism and surreal lyricism, using a technique that places color at the center of attention. The color choice isn't decorative. It's deliberate, sharp, radical. Red pulsates. Blue retreats. Black whispers. Each hue is a critical gesture, an act of subtraction or revelation. It is painting as a political act of feeling. The work does not propose, but questions. It does not show, but invokes. And whoever looks does not remain a spectator, but enters into play as a sensitive and disarmed body. It's no longer a matter of understanding. It's a matter of feeling precisely.
