About this artwork
I created this work with the goal of creating a balance between vitality and tranquility. White, gray, and black areas of color flow across the paper like frosty veils, creating for me the impression of cold or winter stillness. I've embedded a raccoon into this abstract scene—its distinctive facial mask, curious gaze, and fine fur texture allow it to emerge from the background without completely revealing it. It's there—alert yet blended with its… surroundings. For me, the raccoon embodies curiosity, adaptability, and the silent presence of an observer in a fleeting world.
Susanne Sokoll is a painter with over twenty years of experience, primarily working with acrylic on paper and canvas. Her technique combines abstract, harmonious color combinations with realistic and richly detailed paintings of animals that seem to be hidden within the abstract compositions. Her works invite viewers to immerse themselves in a mysterious world full of discovery, with moments of surprise and the quiet joy of sudden recognition taking center stage.
