About this artwork
Title: From Ankaran to Koper
Artist: Suzana Pirtovšek
Medium: Oil on canvas
Dimensions: 40 x 50 cm
Year: [2023]
This painting captures a quiet moment that stayed with me — the view from a hill above Ankaran, looking out toward the distant town of Koper. I was drawn to the way the path winds gently downhill, embraced by cypress trees and warm summer light, leading the eye slowly toward the sea.
As I painted, I tried to preserve that feeling of calm… and gentle movement — the shifting shadows, the stillness of the landscape, the quiet invitation to pause. For me, this scene isn’t just a place I once stood in, but a space of reflection, rhythm, and inner peace.
From Ankaran to Koper is a personal memory, transformed into a moment I now share — an invitation to walk with me through the landscape I love.
Suzana Pirtovšek is a painter with roots in an artistic family, enriched by an academic background in sociology and advanced painting studies under prof. Ian Roberts. Her technique merges impressionistic realism with abstract brushstrokes, capturing the illusion of space and the vibrancy of nature while steering away from photorealism. Through poetic compositions, she conveys emotional depth, inviting viewers on an introspective journey that evokes wonder, meditation, and a profound sense of connection with the natural world.
