About this artwork
He Who Sees
acrylic, pencils, canvas
70×70×2 cm, 2025
He who knows, sees. He who sees, sees with his eyes closed — with a gaze undisturbed by vanity. You dive within yourself during meditation, and there, inside, lie all the treasures, all your parts, all your pearls. Pearls are born within — like a child, like meaning, like intuition. Layer by layer, step by step, hour by hour. Mother-of-pearl covers a grain of sand; time envelops you. And then… you begin to worry. Not because you are an adult, but because YOU are an adult now. Admit it: it’s hard to realize that your support is a child — that child who is still inside you. Admit it: it’s hard to accept that your support is a grain of sand — that trauma that is still inside you. But he who knows, sees.
Born from a book-filled environment, Svetlana Rumak mediates her vision primarily through acrylics, supplemented with pencils, ink, and collages. She's forged an individualistic style, coalescing mixed media techniques within symbolism, a visual narrative reflecting upon womanhood and its many facets. Through her works, she unfolds a "fan of reality", instilling in viewers a profound contemplation on gender roles and spiritual mysticism.
