About this artwork
“Awakening” is an abstract oil painting that captures the delicate moment between dream and awakening – that fleeting transition in which reality and memory merge.
On a base of acrylic and incorporated pieces of tulle, a multi-layered composition in vibrant hues develops: turquoise and blue blend with white, gold, and light ochre to create an atmospheric movement. The tulle remnants used—symbolizing the delicate membranes between consciousness… and subconsciousness, the drops of memories from dreams—give the work a tangible depth.
The image evokes the feeling of an inner awakening: like a fall or flight from a dream state, carried by light and memory, accompanied by the last loose threads of the night. It is a silent metaphor for the awakening of the self—from something old, into something still unnamed.
