About this artwork

All the moments are precious in life. Imagine a ship coming closer to the shore, about to reach homeland but not just yet, in the air full of exciting tension. Who will get off board and who will be cheerful at their sight? Who is looking at the vibrant horizon behind their window and how far does the big sun's reflection on the glass can reach? Can the people into the ship see the sun's glaring on the near homes? Sail on, "Home is near".

I love… the sea. I come from the Southern Italian seaside town of Salerno, my hometown.
I miss home often, as I work as an artist and travel. Then, at a stage of my life, I realized the truth that home is an inner state. I can feel home where my heart is. Yet, I learnt the importance of keeping in touch, and nourishing our important connection and the family relationships. To help each other out, to listen to each other and to give each other presence and quality time whenever possible.

Matteo Sica is an experienced Italian painter based in Slovakia whose works have been featured in solo and group shows internationally. Working in acrylics, Sica creates vibrant abstract works with the intention of manifesting feelings of harmony, silent awe, and joyful enthusiasm for life. His work is characterized by cosmic color splatters and swirls, creating frenzied compositions full of rhythm.
