"Promises: Mulberry" captures the precise moment of early fruit development. The botanical details, cast in plaster, emphasize the delicate structure of the hanging mulberry clusters. The plant serves as a metaphor for initial aspirations—full of quiet potential, yet entirely exposed to unpredictable circumstances.
The artwork is created using an indirect casting method, where live plants are pressed into a clay matrix and then cast in sculptural… plaster. As the clay matrix is destroyed upon demolding, the resulting bas-relief is an absolutely unique, one-of-a-kind artwork. The botanical elements are painted with watercolor. The piece is presented in a custom, handcrafted wooden frame made by local artisans, equipped with professional wall-mounting hardware. The frame is an integral part of the object and cannot be removed. The artwork requires no additional framing and is ready to hang.
Medium: High-strength sculptural plaster, watercolor, matte varnish.
Frame: Wood.
Tetiana Yalovets is a Ukrainian sculptor specializing in botanical bas-reliefs, creating heavy, textured wall sculptures for modern interiors. She uses live plants to leave exact imprints in clay matrices, filling the negative space with plaster to permanently capture the intricate details and textures of each specimen—a process that ensures each work is unique. Her art explores the deep connections between the botanical world and human memory, evoking contemplation, wonder, and reverence for the beauty found in nature’s quiet, imperfect moments.
