About this artwork
"At the Foot of Mont Ventoux" (40x40 cm) unfolds a vibrant and luminous atmosphere that immediately captures the eye. The lavender fields, rendered by a dense and expressive pictorial writing, offer a mosaic of purples and blues contrasting with the yellows and greens of the surrounding land. The energetic, almost swirling brushstroke gives the landscape a vitality close to Impressionism and recalls in places the post-Impressionist fervor.
The two… pickers, humble and timeless figures, anchor the scene in a peasant reality, adding a human dimension to the exuberance of nature. Their discreet presence underlines the poetry of the everyday gesture in the face of the monumentality of the cypress trees and the horizon. The sky, animated by broad movements and shifting nuances, contributes to the lyrical momentum of the whole.
It is a work that combines colorful harmony and gestural intensity, translating the beauty of the Provençal landscape, with a very personal evocative force.
Théodora Bernardini was born in Poitiers and lives and works in Metz. A painter for over fifty years, registered with the Maison des Artistes in Paris since 1988, she discovered her vocation very early on. From the age of ten, she underwent intensive artistic training in drawing and painting, which she continued for thirteen years. Her early figurative works gradually led her towards a freer style, where color became essential. Inspired by the Impressionists – Gauguin, Van Gogh, Renoir, and Maurice Denis – she developed a world marked by light and chromatic vibrancy. Her series "Forests," "Rivers," "Oceans," and her famous "Blues" reflect a quest for intensity and sincerity. She exhibits regularly in France and Germany, where her work has received awards. Exploring oil, watercolor, pastel, and mixed media, she constantly seeks the balance between transparency, texture, and pictorial freedom.
