About this artwork
This painting is inspired by a photo of a building from which one can see the business district of Moscow on the horizon.
The kneeling figure taking the umbrella a woman offers him has the head of the "Anonymous" mask. He represents a figure of global protest.
The fact that he is carrying an umbrella suggests that he is about to go on a mission and expects to face severe weather.
The red reflections on the front of the temple come from a fire… in front of the temple. A male and female figure are sitting in two deckchairs in front of this fire.
A server moves onto the terrace.
A strange orange glow is in the sky behind the temple.
The two golden basins at the back of the temple, from which blue and red fumes escape, suggest that a ceremony is in progress.
This painting was created shortly before the first lockdown imposed by the COVID-19 epidemic.
Thomas Formule, originally an engineer, became an acrylic artist fascinated by vast landscapes and cities traversed by movement. Skillfully using the two-step painting technique, blending the figurative with the abstract, his expressionist style is characterized by vivid colors and a constant practice of flexibility. Through a search for harmony between the corporeal and analytical worlds, Formule aims to express the meeting of Eastern and Western visions, provoking a sense of continuous exploration and the aspiration to achieve one's own perfection.
