About this artwork
On Rúa Campo dos Mártires da Patria is one of the oldest and most traditional shops in Porto, Casa Oriental, today a canning house. The façade that preserves the structure from the last century was the reason that inspired me to paint it as one more work in my urban architecture series. Originally, the Oriental House traded products brought from overseas, such as coffee, tea or chocolate.
It was founded in 1910 as a grocery store. Located next to… the Clérigos Tower, it is also well known for its original façade, where a mural painting from the Portuguese colonial era is still on display, depicting an explorer being served by a native.
This work was exhibited in 2022 at ART REVOLUTION TAIPEI, one of the most prestigious fairs in Asia Pacific.
His work shows a mixture of realistic and impressionist styles, both awakening a great interest in the current art market. Realism attracts collectors who appreciate precise technique and detailed representation, as seen in his works of urban landscapes and still lifes. The impressionistic elements, evident in his depictions of people in environments atmospheric, they are very popular with audiences interested in emotional and expressive techniques.
