About this artwork
Oil on 200 gr white Fabriano paper.
Continuing with the idea of constructing a minimal expression, in this piece the brush extracts disjointed touches, the fruit of unconsciousness and the desire to represent a weak, physically present state. The paint is additive; the color is deposited on the virgin white canvas, which inevitably receives my impacts, taking from them what it can or what the material takes a liking to. The paint settles gently,… without shrieking or arguing anything other than what emerges from it. A hymn to the silence and disdain of an incomprehensibly cruel world.
Toni Riera, painter, draftsman, and printmaker, radiates an artistic experience inspired by Informalism and Expressionist passion. His work in oil on canvas, wood, or paper embodies technique and emotion in an extraordinary balance. His pieces present a dystopian yet honest vision of the world, while reflecting an intense dialogue between lived experience and the act of painting, evoking instantaneous emotions within carefully crafted material circumstances. He explores the act of painting as a poetic experience.
