About this artwork
The mass of paint left on top of the support is presented to be dragged vertically, in a manner as inexpressive as it is unnecessary. Even so, when I begin the action on the material, dragging it slowly in the direction of G, the trace of the material is generated, which turns out to be the representation of the support's resistance force. Or, to put it another way, a memory is created of the support's countermovement with respect to my action, which… ends and disappears at that very instant. Thus, the piece is nothing more than the representation of the inertial factor of matter.
Toni Riera, painter, draftsman, and printmaker, radiates an artistic experience inspired by Informalism and Expressionist passion. His work in oil on canvas, wood, or paper embodies technique and emotion in an extraordinary balance. His pieces present a dystopian yet honest vision of the world, while reflecting an intense dialogue between lived experience and the act of painting, evoking instantaneous emotions within carefully crafted material circumstances. He explores the act of painting as a poetic experience.
