About this artwork
The Old City Gate is a traces of 1000 years of Thang Long, Hanoi. Old City Gate is at the top of Hang Chieu Street, the front looks to the east and the Red River, the back looks to the west and the stretch of Hang Chieu Street. In architecture, there is a porch to keep, on the other side, there is still an enemy floor that is a guarding place. The door was built with a large arch, formerly with two large thick wooden gates, at night the guards closed… the door and opened the door in the early morning for people to pass and trade.
Trong Thuong Tran is an artist based in Vietnam whose paintings have been exhibited nationally. He cites his interchanging emotions as governing his artistic expression. One of One of Tran's recurring themes is the "reflection of the human destiny in cities", which blur the individuality of each person. He creates intuitively with oils and acrylics on canvas.
