A picturesque flight over our blue planet, over the sea, whose colors shimmer through the clouds, sometimes more, sometimes less.
In this work, the artist once again skillfully translates her favorite perspective of our planet Earth onto the canvas - detached, weightless and free. The viewer of this picture is like a pilot in an airplane high up in the air - a frequent motif of the artist - and looks at an infinitely wide and at the same time fragile… world: our seas that disappear into the horizon - Mare Nostrum. This picture is painted partly with a spatula, which directs the liquefied paint in many layers, partly with a brush in the classic way. This creates an unusual perspective and depth that no viewer can escape. A very exciting work!

Ulrike Schmelter is an artist living in Berlin and on the Spanish Mediterranean coast, whose works are exhibited throughout Europe. Inspired by Romantic painting and its awareness of the uniqueness of nature, the artist intensely observes water, the sea, and nature. She visualizes her sensations in her expressive seascapes, abstract water paintings, and landscapes characterized by water—always without people. Schmelter's compositions depict the beauty of our earth and its landscapes, elevating water and the sea to the center of all existence, capturing moods and a "fascination with the moment." With her works, the artist sensitizes the viewer, reminding them of the fragility of the sea as an ecological system and water as a precious resource. Her primary media are acrylic on canvas.
