About this artwork
Warm light, a sublime sky, the sound of the sea. The color of the evening sky is reflected in the dance of the waves. The sea is lively and calm at the same time - the warm, even earthy tones awaken a feeling of wellbeing and inner peace. The unusual coloring and the special technique make this medium-sized work so attractive. Classic painting and a special "flow technique" developed by the artist meet here - calm and movement, depth and space, everything… is harmoniously combined.
“Waterside” is painted on a polyester canvas as smooth as paper, which further underlines the unusual character of this work. The perfect picture for lovers of colors and the sea!
« Water and cloud landscapes, concrete, and yet, abstract. Places of the longing. »
Ulrike Schmelter is an artist living in Berlin and on the Spanish Mediterranean coast, whose works are exhibited throughout Europe. Inspired by Romantic painting and its awareness of the uniqueness of nature, the artist intensely observes water, the sea, and nature. She visualizes her sensations in her expressive seascapes, abstract water paintings, and landscapes characterized by water—always without people. Schmelter's compositions depict the beauty of our earth and its landscapes, elevating water and the sea to the center of all existence, capturing moods and a "fascination with the moment." With her works, the artist sensitizes the viewer, reminding them of the fragility of the sea as an ecological system and water as a precious resource. Her primary media are acrylic on canvas.
