About this artwork
Wild Tides
A series about new beginnings, change, and the power of the original.
The idea for the series arose from an impulse – from an inner urge to capture something primal. During the painting process, as the forms, colors, and movements became increasingly dense and the pictorial event wilder and more unpredictable, the title came to me: Wild Tides. It seemed to encompass everything – the breaking up, the flowing, the coming and going of… forces on the canvas.
Thus, Wild Tides became the title of a mini-series that was created in 2021.
In 2024, the desire arose to rethink and implement this series on a larger scale. I was moved by thoughts of organic processes: growth and decomposition, the wild breaking apart of matter, the swirling of fragments, the re-sorting, the connecting and separating at the same time.
Uschi Stoffels, an artist from Düsseldorf, uses mediums such as acrylic paint and everyday materials thanks to her childhood memories of craft and design. She often uses a mixture of materials in her work and devotes herself to painting, where she creates portraits, emotional paintings and sculptures. Stoffels' art is the embodiment of her emotions and experiences, a vivid reflection of her feelings and sensibilities.
