About this artwork
When was it? When did we lose faith in magic, in miracles? Did that already happen when we were still children and the adults told us who would bring the presents on Easter, St. Nicholas and Christmas? When were enchanted places disenchanted, in which we, as children, listened in awe to unfamiliar sounds? The artist took these and many other thoughts into account when designing this work. She wants to give us some of this magic with her design, with… lively, vibrant colors that peek out under the overlying neutral tones and a lot of white. The special thing about this work are the remnants of previous liquid acrylic paints. The artist embedded these in fresh gesso to create structure. Afterwards, many more layers of oil paints were applied, supported by individual acrylic paints, graphite and charcoal, which give the impression of a very personal memory.
« Painting is my freedom, my passion, my love, my life. »
Ute Bivona is an experienced German painter who has exhibited her work nationally and internationally. As a child, she often felt abandoned and alone and fled into the magical world of colors, painting, drawing and reading to feel better. Through her lively abstract compositions, she tries to express her moods, thoughts, fears, hopes, sadness and joy and to take the viewer into her joyful, peaceful and, above all, colorful world.
