About this artwork
This oil painting was created plein air on location at one of the lochs on the Shetland Islands. Between 2000 and 2014 I traveled there regularly to capture the unique, barren landscape in paintings. The Shetland Islands fascinate me with their rough, mysterious atmosphere characterized by a rich palette of blue and green tones, complemented by warm red and brown shades. My brushstrokes are expressive and dynamic to express the energy and movement…
of the landscape. The nuances and contrasts of the colored areas convey the depth and mystery of this special place. The picture has a light, simple linden wood frame. My signature is on the front and back.
