About this artwork
This jug with its bulbous shape is a favorite of mine. In this watercolor painting, the deep blue contrasts with the delicate orange, brown and red of the apple. The strong, warm golden ocher highlights the blue. The white lights make the shapes appear three-dimensional. The light is captured impressionistically. The brushwork is expressionistic. For me the picture exudes calm and strength. The watercolor is fixed under a light gray passe-partout.…

Ute Meyer is a German artist whose work has been recognized nationally and internationally, including in Denmark and the USA.
