About this artwork
The watercolor was created on the Baltic coast of the Danish island of Aeroe in June. It was painted in the evening. The humid air of twilight creates soft color transitions. The view first falls on the green and brown grass of the meadow towards the shining ocher cliffs. In the background, the stony, light beach is indicated. Under the gray-blue sky, blue-green waves move towards the chain line. The watercolor is drawn up on a dark gray cardboard…

Ute Meyer is a German artist whose work has been recognized nationally and internationally, including in Denmark and the USA. She prefers to work outdoors and uses classic techniques of oil and watercolor painting. Her creative process is strongly influenced by changing weather conditions and lighting, which can either speed up or slow down her painting flow. She captures the special mood of the day in her pictures.
In addition to plein air painting, Ute Meyer draws inspiration from her own photographs and everyday experiences, which she implements both abstractly and figuratively. Characteristic features of her works are clarity, liveliness, depth and breadth, which run like a common thread through her work.
