About this artwork
I often look at this path into the forest when I am on the island of Ærø. On a windy summer evening I set up my watercolor equipment in front of this path and painted with joy. The picture leads the eye to a path whose end appears flooded with light and makes you curious to follow the path. 300gsm Arches paper served as the painting surface. The watercolor is fixed to a gray passepartout cardboard measuring 60x80 cm.

Ute Meyer is a German artist whose work has been recognized nationally and internationally, including in Denmark and the USA. She prefers to work outdoors and uses classic techniques of oil and watercolor painting. Her creative process is strongly influenced by changing weather conditions and lighting, which can either speed up or slow down her painting flow. She captures the special mood of the day in her pictures.
In addition to plein air painting, Ute Meyer draws inspiration from her own photographs and everyday experiences, which she implements both abstractly and figuratively. Characteristic features of her works are clarity, liveliness, depth and breadth, which run like a common thread through her work.
