This work leaves room for interpretation and creates a connection between form and meaning without explaining anything.
The title “Folds” can refer to thought processes, inner movement or layers of memory – to that
what is nested within and slowly unfolds or becomes visible. It could indicate a continuous process of becoming,
on inside and outside, thought and world. Even in nature, folds can constantly be discovered,
for example, in leaves,… rock layers, hills, or roots. Thus, the title reinforces the landscape character of the image,
without naming him directly.

The German artist Uwe Beyer, born in 1959, lives in Coswig, near Dresden, and in Düsseldorf. He studied at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design in Halle (1988–1993). Uwe Beyer's paintings emerge more from mindfulness than from control. The material is allowed to move, resist, and settle. Form is not imposed but develops organically—stabilizing briefly before dissolving back into openness. Each work exists in a tension between presence and withdrawal, density and emptiness. It exists as a self-contained object while simultaneously eluding complete visibility. Instead of composing images, his practice creates the conditions for their emergence. These paintings do not represent the world.
They reveal the conditions under which form – and thus reality – comes into being. What remains is not an image, but a trace of becoming.
