About this artwork
Inspired by Edvard Munch's iconic motif. An abstracted, screaming face against a vibrant, fiery background in shades of red and orange. The bridge's course is suggested in shades of blue. Expressive and open lines.
A silent scream tears through the field of color – not loud, but all-pervading. Amidst raging worlds stands a human being. Alone. Vulnerable. And yet impossible to ignore.
Intention for the reinterpretation:
The intention was to bring… the actual "scream" to the forefront and thereby make it more present. To further emphasize this, the background scenery of the figure was almost entirely omitted (the long pier, the people walking there, boats in the harbor).
Uwe Stark works as a painter, draftsman, and sculptor using acrylics, oils, mixed media, oil pastels, pencils, and structural materials. His artistic path is shaped by a deeply personal exploration and further training in art therapy. His technique combines layering, overpainting, and a conscious openness between figuration and abstraction, often bringing together expressive symbolism and meditative imagery. His works invite viewers to encounter themselves by creating spaces for healing, sensitivity, and quiet transformation.
