“Between Dream and Reality” is a captivating painting inspired by the novels of Oscar Wilde. The canvas depicts a female figure sitting in a pose of concentration, her form a bridge between two realms. On the one hand the bright hues symbolize the lure of eternal beauty, on the other hand the darker, decadent tones symbolizing moral decay.
Abstract shapes and cloying colors surround the figure, embodying different facets of existence. We do not see… the woman's face in a deliberately ambiguous way, allowing viewers to project their own interpretations of beauty and morality.
The brushstrokes range from smooth and precise in areas of youth and beauty to rough and textured in the marred areas, reflecting the duality of our world's existence. This striking juxtaposition creates a visual tension that engages the viewer in an exploration of appearance and reality, much like the plot of one of Oscar Wilde's novels.
