About this artwork
Metaphor inspired by Antiquity. The contemplative figure symbolizes the inner journey and the quest for oneself. Thought is an allegory in the traditional sense of classical painting, it is the personalization of an idea here… it is Thought. Represented by a pensive woman, Thought explores our psyche. I chose the raw linen canvas for its unrefined side, simple and demanding like the functioning of our thoughts. I mounted the craft paper and the cyanotype image on the canvas then made the drawing in inks. The result is a somewhat old and surprising side.
The cyanotype is very present in this piece.
