About this artwork
Semi-abstract fantasy of a sumo fight between cherry blossoms, which is a tree famous in Japan for its beautiful flowering that fills the streets with pink petals. I liked the idea of integrating two symbols of Japanese culture. Sumo wrestlers, those powerful bodies coiled in fights that last just a few minutes, have always caused me great fascination. I… like to change its ring (dojo) for some invented place in the middle of nature to reinforce the connection between humans and nature, mix something so powerful with something delicate and ephemeral.

« My way of painting is instinctive and intuitive, the painting chose me and not vice versa »
