About this artwork
“Taras bandage” Taras Shevchenko monument in Borodianka, the city that was under occupation and was damaged. After the liberation of this city, the monument was bandaged and the whole city was destroyed by the “russian army”. For me, this bandage is a symbol of care. Yes, in Ukraine now take care even if it is symbolic. I symbolically bandaged a tree that seems bare to me,shedding their skin.

Valeriya Tarasenko is an emerging artist from the Ukraine. Using oil paint, her contemporary, semi-abstract artwork plays with perspective. Tarasenko explores themes of transcendence and abandonment, particularly within urban spaces, often depicting beautiful yet disused equipment or decorative architectural features.
