About this artwork
Forest, a place deliciously cool and damp, when the diffused sun casts mysterious shadows over tiny clearings. A place of retreat and reflection. A place where you can easily get lost but actually unstoppably inspirational.
A canvas painted with varieties of different techniques: gold-leaf shining through thick layers of paint. Sides are 2 cm thick and painted so could hang without framing but framing it would be a better option. Finished with… a glaze of UV varnish to protect against sunlight and dust damage.

Vania Bouwmeester Pentcheva is an established Bulgarian artist based in the Netherlands who has exhibited her work nationally, as well as in South Africa. Moved and inspired by nature, including its presence in urban landscapes, she explores her emotions, memories and philosophical thoughts through the composition of abstract paintings full of dynamic shapes and colours. Textures and colours spontaneously arrive on the canvas, though structured layering is carefully thought out.
